If you’re determined to make your home toxin-free, think about what alternatives you can use for the some of the chemical products that you currently use around the house.
Along with using Absolute Green’s all-natural products, have you ever thought about the many ways that baking soda can help you with your toughest cleaning jobs? It’s cheap, it’s non-toxic, and it is so effective!
Odor Absorbing Power
You probably already know that you can use it in your fridge to absorb fridge smells; that’s a no-brainer. But did you know that the same odor-absorbing power can be used outside your fridge? Sprinkle it on mattresses, pet beds, and even furniture. Leave for a couple hours, and vacuum away to freshen them up. I’ve even successfully been able to remove the smell of vomit in my car after my kid was carsick. Is that too much information? It’s important information! Throw away the chemical upholstery sprays that claim to remove smells. They just add artificial fragrance to mask smells, but the result is just your old, bad smell, mixed with a new, chemical smell. With baking soda, after absorbing those bad smells naturally, you can freshen things up with one of Absolute Green’s all-natural air fresheners.
Drain De-clogger
Have you ever used a chemical drain cleaner to clear a stubborn drain? Did you ever wonder why there are so many warnings on the container? Why would we pour that down the drain into our water sources? And why would we spend money for the privilege of harming our health and environment? Try this: ¾ cup of baking soda down the dry drain. Pour in ½ cup of white vinegar. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then pour some hot water down the drain too. For a stubborn clog, do it again. I’ve never needed to do it more than twice. And for fun, let your kids help – they’ll get a kick out of that famous reaction, and you won’t even have to build a paper mache volcano!
Faucet De-scaler
If you have a lot of lime build-up on your faucets, use baking soda to create a natural de-scaler. Use 3 parts baking soda to one part water to create a paste. Plaster that over your faucet and leave for one hour, before washing away with water. You can also use this mixture on other hard water stains around your home.
Keep Your Whites, Whiter and Brights, Brighter
It seems too good to be true, but it’s not: you do not need to buy fancy laundry products or bleaches to keep your whites and brights looking their best. Add a ½ cup of baking soda to your laundry, with your favorite laundry detergent, and then marvel at how great your laundry is looking! It’s so easy. And for even whiter whites, dry your whites on the line in the sun, for the added super-power of sunshine.
We love using baking soda as an eco-friendly, naturally cleaner. And of course, we use it in combination with Absolute Green’s line of natural cleaners for a beautifully clean toxin-free home. What are some of your favorite uses of baking soda?
