Healthy Home Products
Absolute Green was created to provide natural and healthy alternatives to cleaning and household products. Our Founder Karen, did a home improvement project and ended up in the ER with an asthma attack. During cleanup, the accumulation of toxic product fumes from all the paints, carpet, and cleaning products made with toxic/synthetic/artificial fragrances overwhelmed her,
Being a huge animal lover (especially her little dude Divot the cat- below) ) and concerned about the environment she was determined to make natural plant-based cleaners, air fresheners, wood polish, and linen fabric spray safe for chemically sensitive people and pets.
Wanting to learn more about why she got sick, she studied chemicals and their effects on indoor air quality, humans, animals, and the environment. Karen became a LEED approved professional for Commercial Spaces by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Important to her was also the landlord's responsibility and the choices they make for tenants in their buildings,
Karen comments: I was looking for a natural alternative to the current store cleaning options. I found lots of products with chemicals, toxins, environmentally unfriendly packaging, animal testing, or a combination of all of these. I was looking for a complete lifestyle overhaul and committed myself to “going green” with ingredients that made sense.
Over ten years ago, I knew I had to create plant-based daily use products that have less impact on our bodies, pets, homes, and our planet. Using real ingredients to clean and freshen our homes, offices, and personal items; without chemicals and synthetic fragrances—is a good thing. If I can prevent one person from getting sick like I did, I know I've done the right thing.
Our commitment to 100% natural products is unwavering—as is our interest in being “good citizens of the world.” We are a small woman-owned business with an employee mix of teachers, retired, and local folks (to name a few). Everyone is passionate about natural lifestyle and products, Karen also partners with local universities to employ interns to learn about sustainability and grow within the business—from the office to the production line.
Our manufacturing practices are 98% closed loop, with local sourcing whenever possible and minimal waste. Eco-friendly packing: We use plastic product bottles that can be recycled ( think fleece or park bench), biodegradable packing peanuts,( made from starch, which can be composted!) , and corrugated paper/ re-used retail bags for shipping.
These products are in loving memory of my father .. Karen
